Position Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to administer and supervise the work involving major and minor renovation work performed by the Cambridge Housing Authority (“CHA” or “Authority”) through the award of contracts to private firms and the development, implementation, and monitoring of preventative and day-to-day maintenance programs. The incumbent shall also develop and supervise the programs and tasks for the Authority’s skilled maintenance staff, prepare work write-ups, specifications of bid documents and smaller construction contracts, as well as supervise these contracts.

Position Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a background in one or more of the building trades as well as strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Outlook). Ability to learn other computer software programs may be required by assigned tasks. Considerable knowledge of the Massachusetts Building Code is required. Other requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or architecture and at least five (5) years of experience in contract administration, housing management, and/or maintenance planning and implementation. Construction management experience is desirable.
