Originally constructed in 1907 as a convent, 116 Norfolk Street was acquired by the Cambridge Housing Authority in 1975 and converted into 38 units of Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing. In January 2022, CHA began work on a new building addition, including the transformation of all units from SROs into studio apartments.

Today, following the completion of construction, the building offers 62 deeply affordable studio apartments.
