Congratulations to the 14 newest graduates of CHA’s fourth annual Computer Literacy Program, who were celebrated at a graduation ceremony held at Burns Apartments in North Cambridge.

The program, now looking ahead to its fifth iteration, aims to reduce the digital divide among CHA’s resident community. This weeks-long program culminates in resident presentations and the gifting of a free Chromebook provided by CHA upon completion.

“Thank you all for coming to this class consistently,” said CHA Senior Service Coordinator Jennifer Chisholm to the enthusiastic students. “When many of you walked in, you didn’t even know how to turn on a computer. Now, you come into the classroom and I see you have your computer on, you’re already logged into your Google accounts, some of you have checked your emails, others pull up YouTube videos of cats. It’s just amazing to see the progress you have made in less than two months.”

CHA Deputy Executive Director Brenda Snowden Downing also shared her sentiments with the resident participants, “I certainly hope you found this beneficial. I’m so happy you were able to do this, and I’m happy we’re going to be replicating this again and again. Thank you all, and congratulations on the amazing work.”

The ceremony included resident slide presentations, remarks, the gifting of new Chromebooks, and a catered lunch.
